    Erich Bailey

Erich Bailey's journey to family law began with a love for reading and writing, a knack for debate, and a vision of stability through a career in corporate law. However, during his time at Tulane University Law School, his experiences reshaped his path toward advocacy. Living amidst the resilient yet struggling communities rebuilding after Hurricane Katrina, Erich found purpose in helping those impacted by environmental hazards. While working with the Tulane Environmental Law Clinic, he represented a Vietnamese immigrant congregation whose church had been contaminated by arsenic runoff. This experience left him with a firm commitment to serving individuals directly. Today, he finds fulfillment in family law, where he can make a tangible difference in the lives of others during deeply personal challenges.

Erich has been recognized for his dedication to community service, receiving the Ric Morgan Award from the Metro Volunteer Lawyers (MVL) and the Douglas-Elbert County Bar Association. Since 2024, he has participated in MVL's family law programs, supporting low-income individuals needing legal guidance. These roles allow him to collaborate with other attorneys who share his dedication to accessible legal support, something he considers an integral part of his practice.

In family law, Erich treats clients with empathy, honesty, and respect. He provides a grounded and sometimes critical perspective, understanding that clients deserve clear insights into their cases. He believes in avoiding the financial and emotional strains of court trials whenever possible, encouraging settlement while preparing for strong advocacy when negotiations fall short. Erich’s approach emphasizes calm, constructive interactions and values empowering clients with knowledge—a skill that reflects his background. He grew up in a family of schoolteachers and worked as an LSAT instructor and weightlifting coach. He breaks down complex legal concepts into accessible language, helping clients make informed, confident decisions.

Erich's legal insight is reinforced by his academic background, including a Juris Doctorate from Tulane University Law School and a Master of Arts from the University of Denver, where he focused on persuasive communication and ethics. His approach to litigation is grounded in good-faith cooperation and transparency, striving to present clients in their best light without resorting to aggressive courtroom tactics.

Outside of work, Erich enjoys live music, photography, and spending time with his nephews playing video games. Born in Mississippi and raised in Nashville, he has lived in various cities across the U.S. and studied abroad in Paris and Florence. Now based in Colorado, Erich remains active in his community through his involvement with Metro Volunteer Lawyers, bringing his passion for service full circle.
