Lea Ann Lyster

Lea Ann Lyster is a Licensed Legal Paraprofessional at The Harris Law Firm who draws from over two decades of experience in family law to help clients navigate unfamiliar legal processes and emotionally turbulent times. A member of the inaugural class of Licensed Legal Paraprofessionals sworn in at the Colorado Supreme Court in June 2024, Lea Ann has worked exclusively in family law since October 2000, first as a paralegal and now as an LLP with an emphasis on divorce and allocation of parental responsibilities matters. Drawn to the legal field by her desire to make a positive impact on people going through difficult experiences, she provides exceptional insight to clients and offers the level of support necessary to help them maximize efficiency in their cases.

Lea Ann's approach as an LLP balances compassionate, empathetic support with objective, strategic legal counsel. She understands that clients with family law cases often seek legal counsel during what can be some of the most difficult and troubling times in their lives, and that cases such as divorce or child custody involve loss, changing relationships, and new circumstances that greatly impact a person's future. Her focus on active listening, validation of her clients' feelings, and genuine compassion is matched by a commitment to professionally aligning her legal strategies directly with each client's long-term goals, so that clients feel both heard and well-represented throughout the entirety of their legal journey.

In addition to her empathetic approach, Lea Ann is highly experienced in working cases involving a broad spectrum of family law matters. She is known for her organizational skills, time management, and prioritization of deadlines, which help immensely in maximizing efficiency and cutting costs for clients. She also completed a 40-hour basic mediation training in October 2019, further expanding her ability to support clients through alternative resolution processes.

Lea Ann is an active member of the Colorado Bar Association's Family Law Section and the Arapahoe County Bar Association. She currently serves as an At Large Member of the CBA LLP Committee Leadership team and is a member of the Irving P. Andrews Inn of Court.

Lea Ann is a Colorado native who has lived in Aurora her entire life. Beyond her legal work, she is actively involved in her community by volunteering at the Douglas County family law pro se clinic, coaching youth softball in the Aurora area, and volunteering with an organization that brings certified therapy dogs to local first responders with her American Akita, Denali. Outside of her legal and community work, she enjoys spending time with family, traveling, camping, kayaking, and being outdoors.

Hear From Lea Ann's Happy Clients

They were understanding and helpful, which meant a lot
“I cannot say enough good things about my experience with Erika Carter and Lea Ann Lyster, LLP, at The Harris Law Firm. This comes from my full year of working with them.

Erika Carter handled my emergency order and was extremely efficient. During a very stressful time in my life, she moved quickly, kept me informed, and made me feel supported the entire way through.

The second part of my case was handled by Lea Ann Lyster, LLP. She took care of my mediation and every motion in between, including a change of custody, child support, sworn financial statements, and helping draft a new parenting plan to clean up older confusing orders. We were dealing with a very aggressive opposing attorney, and she handled it calmly and professionally. She never pushed her own opinions into my parenting plan unless I specifically asked for her advice, which I really appreciated.

I was prepared to go to trial knowing LLPs can now litigate gave me a lot of confidence. You are basically getting someone with over 20 years of experience at a more affordable rate than a traditional attorney, which truly mattered to me. I even signed both Erika Carter and Lea Ann Lyster to my trial so certain parts could be divided, which helped save money. Having that option made a big difference.

Overall, I was very happy with The Harris Law Firm. If I needed emergency advice and one of my attorneys was in mediation or at trial, there was always someone available to step in temporarily. I actually had to use that during a very scary moment in my case, and they responded right away.

Their response time was impressive. I never waited more than 24 hours, and most of the time it was much quicker. If they were unavailable, their automatic replies clearly explained when I would hear back and who to contact if it was urgent.

The billing department was also kind, flexible, and easy to work with. They were understanding and helpful, which meant a lot. I even received occasional check-in calls to make sure I was happy with how everything was going.

I will certainly be using them for future legal needs
“It was great working with an LLP, she made the process quick and easy, there was good communication, and it was a lot more affordable than using a Lawyer. I would highly recommend the Harris Law Firm, and I will certainly be using them for future legal needs.”

What stood out most was her genuine commitment to my case

I had the pleasure of working with Lea Ann during my divorce settlement, and I can’t express enough how grateful I am for her support and professionalism throughout the process. From the very beginning, Lea Ann, an LLP, demonstrated a deep knowledge of the legal system and offered clear, thoughtful advice at every step.

What stood out most was her genuine commitment to my case. I truly felt like she had my back the entire time—advocating for my best interests, keeping me informed, and making sure I understood my options. She made a difficult and emotional experience feel more manageable.
Not only was she highly competent and supportive, but LLP’s services can be significantly more affordable than a traditional attorney. I highly recommend a Licensed Legal Paraprofessional (LLP) to anyone looking for support during a divorce.
