Elizabeth Harrison

Elizabeth Harrison is a family law attorney at The Harris Law Firm in Colorado, with particular strength in cases involving domestic violence and child protection. She brings a thoughtful, empathetic approach to matters where her clients' safety and family relationships are most at stake, paired with the negotiation and litigation skills needed to know when a case calls for one approach over the other.

Elizabeth's path to law began early. Watching her parents work with their business attorney while she was growing up gave her a front-row seat to both the value and the limitations of legal representation, and it made her want to understand the law as an adult due to the importance of good legal representation. That motivation followed her to Whitworth College, where she studied International Business Communications and discovered a genuine interest in business law. Eager to build on that foundation and explore new opportunities, she went on to law school with a clear sense of purpose: to protect vulnerable individuals and help them achieve honest and fair outcomes.

Elizabeth earned her J.D. from the University of Idaho College of Law. She is a member of the American Inns of Court, No. 130, as well as multiple state bar associations and trial lawyers' associations. Her academic background also includes international experience, having served as a People-to-People student ambassador to the former Soviet Union and having completed international studies at Tilburg University in the Netherlands. Elizabeth also spent time as an adjunct professor at Boise State University, where she taught evening courses in Family Law, Evidence, Wills & Trusts, Bankruptcy, and Natural Resources Law to paralegal students in the university's Social Science Department.

Elizabeth's approach to client work follows a clear, consistent process. She begins every case by truly listening to a client's story, drawing on active listening and empathy to understand both the legal and personal dimensions of their situation, and even connecting them with community resources when needed. From there, she works to understand what matters most to her clients and presents realistic legal options along with honest timelines and costs, so clients always know what to expect. She then follows up with thorough legal research to shape the right strategy for the case. Throughout the process, she stays organized and accessible, keeping clients, colleagues, and staff aligned through clear communication and a defined plan of action.

Elizabeth's connection to Colorado runs deeper than her current practice. Childhood business trips to Denver with her parents and summer vacations spent in Crested Butte helped grow her appreciation for the state long before she began practicing law here. Outside of work, she is a certified suicide prevention hotline worker and serves as a pro bono attorney for CASA (Court-Appointed Special Advocate) volunteers. She speaks some French and Dutch, enjoys hiking and biking in her free time, and is the proud mother of three adult children.
