Sophia came to law from a love of investigation and storytelling. She planned to become a journalist in college, drawn to reading, writing, and digging into the facts, but she found that telling people's stories and advocating for them through litigation was far more rewarding. That instinct had taken root even earlier. When several of her friends and college roommates were in abusive relationships, Sophia helped them find the courage to leave, obtain protective orders, and stand up for themselves. Advocating for people at their most vulnerable has driven her work ever since.

Sophia earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, Ethics, and Public Policy, with a minor in Philosophy, from the University of Iowa, where she also received her law degree. In her first years of practice, she handled a broad range of personal injury matters, from minimum-limits motor vehicle collisions to multiple wrongful death cases, giving her experience across the full arc of litigation.

Born and raised in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Colombian immigrants, Sophia holds a deep connection to her Colombian heritage. Outside the office, she stays active with soccer, tennis, and skiing, and she is a devoted fan of live music.
