Adam Newhouse

Adam Newhouse, an associate attorney at The Harris Law Firm, brings a broad and practical legal background to his work with individuals and families across Colorado. With experience in bankruptcy, creditors’ rights, and family law, Adam focuses on divorce, parental rights matters, post-decree modifications, protection orders, and enforcement actions, particularly cases involving complicated financial matters.

Growing up in New Alexandria, Pennsylvania, Adam developed a passion for analyzing problems and advocating for fairness, inspired in part by his father, a funeral director who modeled compassionate service. Encouraged by a college professor, he pursued law and began his career in consumer and creditor bankruptcy before serving nearly nine years as a managing attorney for a corporate client. He later transitioned to family law to work directly with individuals, focusing on helping parents reconnect with their children and supporting families facing safety and stability concerns.

Adam earned dual bachelor’s degrees in Biology and Philosophy from Washington & Jefferson College. He received his Juris Doctor from Thomas M. Cooley Law School, holding multiple student leadership roles, and later completed his LL.M. in Energy and Natural Resources Law from the University of Oklahoma College of Law. He is licensed to practice in Colorado, Pennsylvania, and the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado.

Adam approaches family law with a clear mission: to protect his clients’ futures while treating everyone with dignity and respect. He focuses on practical solutions that restore balance and stability, listens closely to clients’ goals, and develops clear, strategic plans that minimize stress and maximize long-term security. Known for his calm, confident presence, transparency, and realistic guidance, Adam helps clients feel informed, prepared, and supported at every stage, whether negotiating settlements or advocating in court.

Adam is a member of the Colorado Bar Association, Colorado Creditor’s Bar Association, Douglas & Elbert County Bar Association, and Metro Volunteer Lawyers, where he volunteers in creditor and family law cases.

Outside work, he enjoys restoring motorcycles, weightlifting, skiing, mountain biking, and exploring Colorado’s outdoors. A lifelong football fan, he proudly supports the Pittsburgh Steelers and is a devoted uncle, affectionately known as the “funcle,” to his five nephews.

Peter was thoughtful, strategic, and highly effective!

I had the opportunity to work with Peter Goldstein as the financial expert retained on behalf of the husband in a family law matter. Peter was thoughtful, strategic, and highly effective throughout the case.

He demonstrated strong judgment, excellent communication skills, and a deep understanding of the issues involved. We achieved a favorable outcome, and I would not hesitate to recommend Peter to others seeking experienced family law counsel.
