    Alex McCready

    Alex McCready is a family law attorney of The Harris Law Firm in Colorado. His practice focuses on divorce, child custody, and protection orders. He is driven to represent people who are facing difficult or painful circumstances, helping them use the legal system as a pathway toward stability and a stronger future. His experience as a non-profit attorney helping survivors informs his approach, and he views family law as an opportunity to help clients move beyond harmful or unhealthy situations and toward better versions of themselves as parents and people. In cases of domestic violence and sexual assault, Alex works with clients holistically to ensure their safety and emotional well-being while also moving cases forward constructively.

    Raised in a family of attorneys, Alex grew up surrounded by legal discussions about justice and service to others. That early exposure, combined with a college internship at an immigration nonprofit, solidified his decision to pursue a legal career. He saw firsthand how vulnerable people can be without access to legal knowledge or resources, so he was determined to be someone who could stand beside those who need dependable counsel.

    Alex brings a strong academic and analytical foundation to his practice. He earned his B.A. in Spanish and International Business from St. Edward’s University, his J.D. from Cleveland State University, and a Ph.D. in History from Georgia State University. He is licensed to practice in Ohio, Texas, and Colorado.

    Clients benefit from Alex’s strengths as a writer, researcher, and careful editor. He is precise with language and strategic in crafting arguments, whether drafting motions or preparing for court. At the same time, he understands that effective advocacy requires collaboration and practical problem-solving.

    Alex approaches client relationships with empathy and realism. He works to understand each client’s experiences, goals, and the emotional weight of their case. He knows clients feel most supported when their concerns are addressed directly by someone who genuinely cares about the outcome. When difficult news must be delivered, he does so with compassion and prepares clients for realistic outcomes.

    Outside of work, Alex enjoys rock climbing and is an avid NBA fan. He is also the proud father of two children who keep him curious, active, and inspired.
