Fred Deaguero

Fred Deaguero is a Senior Paralegal at The Harris Law Firm who provides experienced, behind-the-scenes support to attorneys and clients in divorce and family law matters.

Fred was drawn to paralegal work after spending years in the legal field serving in a range of support and administrative roles. One of the most notable early moments in his career came when he was asked to step into a quasi-paralegal role while serving as a legal secretary to assist with a family law matter in 1993. That experience helped confirm his interest in becoming a paralegal. 

As a Senior Paralegal, Fred takes an immersive approach to family law cases. He believes in understanding each matter fully — the facts, the challenges, and the procedural demands — so he can better assist attorneys in evaluating issues, discussing options and strategies, and managing next steps. His work is grounded in careful case management and a commitment to helping the legal team move matters forward in a thorough and organized way.

Fred also values building trust with clients. He works to listen carefully, understand each client’s situation and needs, and reinforce that our firm is in their corner. While he is always mindful not to cross into giving legal advice, he is attentive to issues that need attorney input and helps ensure clients are connected with the guidance they need. Clients and colleagues alike benefit from his adaptability, deadline management, and legal skills. He is also known for bringing a sense of humor to his work.

Fred is the second oldest of eight siblings and has lived in Colorado since 1971. A longtime musician, Fred learned clarinet in junior high, later taught himself trombone, trumpet, and piano, and served as a first-chair clarinet player and drum major during high school. Following graduation, he joined the United States Marine Corps in 1975 and received an Honorable Discharge in January 1983. He began songwriting while in the Marines and later released several albums, including Nocturnal Tides, Horizons, Moments with Nature, At First Light, and Once In A Lifetime.

Outside of work, Fred now enjoys songwriting, working out at home, and relaxing with his Yorkie. From 1983 to 2009, he was an avid bowler and achieved two perfect 300 games, one in 1991 and another in 1997, earning a commemorative 300-game ring for the accomplishment. He retired from bowling in 2009.
