Beth Wilkins

Beth Wilkins is a proud graduate of the Denver Paralegal Institute, a Licensed Legal Paraprofessional and a member of The Harris Law Firm in Colorado. After serving on a jury and seeing how the legal and courtroom systems work firsthand, she was driven to begin a legal career. She is known as someone with a passion for helping others through tough times. By becoming a paralegal, Beth has combined her compassionate, helpful personality with the legal career of her dreams. She is currently working to become a Licensed Legal Paraprofessional which will expand her abilities to assist clients in more in depth ways.

When working on a case, Beth loves to see the look on a client’s face when they first realize that things are going to be all right, even after something as uncertain as a messy divorce or contested custody hearing. As a paralegal with more than 30 years of experience, she still enjoys helping a client understand what is going on. Today, she is an irreplaceable help to our family lawyers and divorce attorneys for various behind-the-scenes work, too. She has a real knack for keeping detailed documents organized, a talent that is very much needed for a paralegal who’s part of a law firm as busy and reputable as The Harris Law Firm.

Two of the fondest memories of Beth’s legal career so far have come directly from clients. One client was a grandmother who was able to adopt her grandchild from the biological parents; the joy she felt when her newly adopted grandchild ran into her arms was pure and contagious. Another client went through a difficult and impoverishing divorce but was able to set up a small crafting business using the divorce settlement Beth and her team were able to achieve; the client later sent Beth photos of the client working on her crafts and relaxing by her new pool, which swelled Beth with pride.

Growing up, Beth’s family moved around the Midwest, South Dakota, Iowa, Oklahoma, and Colorado to follow where her father’s work as a minister would take him. She graduated from college in Lincoln, Nebraska, with education and English degrees and taught at a private junior academy in Michigan for 10 years before deciding to move back to Colorado. It was around this time that she first decided a legal career was right for her.

Beth frequently volunteers her time with Wills on Wheels, a pro bono estate planning committee that prepares wills, powers of attorney, and more for low-income seniors. For this work and more like it, she has been awarded regional and national pro bono “paralegal of the year” awards.

To relax, Beth often papercrafts, creates altered books, and enjoys time as a member of several collector groups for Hallmark ornaments, paper dolls, cookie cutters, and more. She often hosts presentations for collector conventions, too. Beth is also a huge Disney, Marvel, and Lucasfilm fan, which includes being a charter member of D23, a Disney Fan Club, and an avid Disney convention attendee.
